arshall County was settled in the early 19th century. The city of Plymouth was named the county seat in 1836, with the original town plat being made in 1834. Within 21 years the community boasted a telegraph line, a railroad and a wooden school building. By 1888, telephones, electric lighting and a water system were available to residents. Other Marshall County cities include Culver, home of the Culver Academies and the famous Black Horse Troop, located on beautiful Lake Maxinkuckee and Bourbon, which derives its name from the many settlers hailing from Bourbon County in Kentucky, was settle in 1853. Bremen, Argos, Lapaz and Tyner also have their own rich history. Spend a day visiting the many antique shops throughout the county.

uring Labor Day Weekend Marshall County is host to the Blueberry Festival, the largest three day festival in the entire Midwest. The festival is ranked as one of the top 100 events in North America.

Some of the best fishing in Northern Indiana is located within minutes of the Irish Inn at Lake Maxinkuckee, Lake of the Woods, and Pretty Lake as well as many others. If you enjoy wildlife and bird watching the Potawatomi Wildlife Park is the place to visit.
